Hamilton penalty for unsafe pit release confirmed

Ferrari has been fined €30,000, with €10,000 suspended for 12 months, following an unsafe pit stop release involving Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian Grand Prix. During the race, a mechanic was struck by Hamilton's car while adjusting the front wing after the driver served a five-second time penalty. The mechanic fell but fortunately sustained no injuries. Stewards ruled that the incident was caused by a breakdown in communication regarding the late request for a front wing adjustment, leading the mechanic to step into the car's path while looking at his tool. Ferrari acknowledged the error, noting that the release was unsafe, and has committed to reviewing its pit stop protocols. Lewis Hamilton was cleared of any blame, as the stewards determined a sporting penalty was unnecessary.
