Second place at Le Mans ‘a gigantic achievement’ after one of BMW’s ‘strongest races’

BMW M Team WRT celebrated a historic return to the overall podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, securing second place with their #20 M Hybrid V8. Despite a challenging start for their sister car and an electrical retirement, the team remained competitive throughout the 24-hour sprint in a high-stakes battle against Toyota and Cadillac. Although a late safety car intervention neutralized their lead, drivers René Rast, Robin Frijns, and Sheldon van der Linde put on a masterful performance, including a decisive pass by Frijns in the final hour. Team leadership and drivers expressed a blend of pride and bittersweet reflection.
