F3 driver Hiyu Yamakoshi claimed a surprise pole position at the Red Bull Ring. He secured his maiden FIA Formula 3 pole by utilizing an empty track, recording a lap time of 1:21.730 while his rivals were in the pit lane. Championship leader Ugo Ugochukwu finished second, just over 0.01 seconds behind, followed by Tuukka Taponen in third. Noah Stromsted and Freddie Slater rounded out the top five, with Alessandro Giusti, Taito Kato, Kanato Le, and Jin Nakamura completing the top 10.
