Why Madrid’s La Monumental corner lives up to its name

The newly constructed Madring circuit in Madrid is set to host the Spanish Grand Prix this September, featuring an ambitious and unique corner known as 'La Monumental'. Named after a traditional bullring, this 270-degree banked turn is designed to be a highlight of the 5.4km circuit. Williams driver Carlos Sainz, an ambassador for the track, noted that the corner is expected to be taken at high speeds and could provide significant overtaking opportunities. With a capacity of 140,000 spectators and a blend of street-track and purpose-built sections, the event marks a grand return to the Spanish capital after 45 years.
