Grosjean to drive F1 car for first time since Bahrain crash

Former F1 driver Romain Grosjean is set to make an emotional return to the cockpit, driving a 2023-spec Haas VF-23 at Mugello this Friday. This marks his first time in an F1 car since his fiery 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix crash. Invited by his former team, Haas, Grosjean will participate in a Testing of Previous Car (TPC) session, reuniting with Team Principal Ayao Komatsu, who will serve as his race engineer. Both Grosjean and Komatsu expressed excitement about the special reunion, highlighting the significance of their long-standing relationship. Grosjean, who moved to IndyCar after his F1 exit, will finally wear the helmet designed by his children for what was meant to be his final 2020 Abu Dhabi GP. F1 TV broadcaster James Hinchcliffe will also get a chance to drive the VF-23.
