Hadjar admits Red Bull call up would be ‘scary’

Isack Hadjar, the promising Red Bull junior driver currently competing with Racing Bulls, has admitted he doesn't feel entirely ready for a potential promotion to the main Red Bull Racing team at this early stage of his Formula 1 career. Having made his F1 debut this season after finishing runner-up in last year's F2 championship, Hadjar has impressed with several Q3 appearances and points finishes, including a standout P5 qualifying and P6 race finish in Monaco. Despite his strong start and the challenges faced by current Red Bull drivers Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, Hadjar, with only nine races under his belt, expressed a degree of apprehension about stepping into the highly scrutinized environment alongside Max Verstappen. He acknowledged the high quality of Lawson and Tsunoda, suggesting the complexity of the top-tier F1 seat. However, Hadjar also conveyed a natural curiosity about experiencing the highest level of the sport, indicating that while he might not feel fully prepared, he would certainly be open to the opportunity if it arose. He emphasized his current enjoyment at Racing Bulls, focusing on learning and preparing for future calls. Hadjar currently sits ninth in the Drivers’ Championship, contributing significantly to Racing Bulls’ points tally.
