Verstappen takes commanding Sprint victory at Spa
Max Verstappen secured his first Sprint win of the season at the Belgian Grand Prix, holding off strong challenges from McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The Red Bull driver made a crucial overtake on Piastri on the opening lap to seize the lead, then defended expertly despite constant pressure.
Verstappen ultimately crossed the line first, with Piastri settling for second and Norris completing the podium in third. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished fourth, followed by Esteban Ocon (Haas), Carlos Sainz (Williams), Ollie Bearman (Haas), and Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), who all secured points. The Sprint also saw Lewis Hamilton struggle in Sprint Qualifying, exiting early, and Pierre Gasly retiring before the start due to a water system issue.
